Trek
around
Laguna de Bai
We arrive
for a late
afternoon swim
in warm spring
waters of
Pansol
On est dans
la piscine,
dans l'eau chaude
des sources
souterraines.
Laguna de Bai is a large interior lake fed by the Pasig river at its north side. It is not too deep
and normally (that is when pollution has not poisoned its waters) spawns fish (tilapia) and ducks.
The south super highway runs along its western edge, and a well paved national road meanders
close to its eastern shores. There are hundreds of interesting sites and stops along the way, but also further down in Tagaytay and Laguna -- as you will see . . .
We passed by
the 'roller rails'
or little wagons
on roller skate
wheels.
They fly
along the rails
in between
the freight
and passenger
trains of PNR!
In San Pablo
City, the first
of the seven
sink holes, or
lakes. These
are craters
created by
underground
volcanic
eruptions.
Around the
lake, colegialas
stroll for an
afternoon
break
Autour du lac,
les colegialas
promènent.
The volcanic ash
gives a very
fertile soil for
rice and all
the flora of the 7th
geographic
zone.
People here are
fond of raising
fighting cocks.
On aime bien
éléver des
coqs au combat!
In Liliw, the
church still
holds forth in
bright red
brick, the
classic style
of the 16th
century.
